The Faculty of Sharia and Law at the American International University seeks to be the destination of legal studies at the local, regional and international levels

Entry conditions

regular students

Those nominated by the Coordination Office who are nominated by the Coordination Office full-time enroll in the college and the enrollment fee

Oriented affiliation students

 They are nominated by the Coordination Office, in which the university provides educational knowledge to the affiliates in return for annual fees (variable value), and in which the affiliated student may be transferred to a regular student if he obtains a good grade.

Regular affiliation students

Those with higher qualifications – a bachelor’s or a bachelor’s degree, on the condition that they hold a high school diploma or its equivalent technical diploma before obtaining the higher qualification, and registration fees per year ….. with the approval of the employer if he works or a full-time certificate if he is a full-time Students who have a bachelor’s degree in any other field may be enrolled in this system

 Department of Islamic Sharia: includes the specialization of Sharia rulings and the principles of jurisprudence.

Civil Law Department: It includes the disciplines of civil law, agricultural law, labor law, social security and personal status for non-Muslims.

Department of Commercial Law: It includes the specializations of commercial law, maritime law and air law.

Pleadings Law Section: It includes the specialization of Civil and Commercial Pleadings Law and Execution.

Department of Criminal Law: includes the disciplines of penal law, criminal procedures, criminology and punishment.

Department of Public Law: includes the specializations of constitutional law, political systems, administrative law, administrative judiciary and public administration.

Department of Public International Law: includes the specialization of public international law and international organizations.

Department of Private International Law: It includes the specialization of private international law.

Department of Philosophy and History of Law: It includes the specialization of Philosophy of Law and History of Law.

Department of Economics and Public Finance: It includes the disciplines of economics, public finance and tax legislation

 

Conditions for Enrollment in a Master’s Degree in Law

 

 

 1   – He must have obtained one of the postgraduate diplomas or one of the specialization diplomas granted by the college, or the equivalent of any of them.

2- The student submits his application for registration and completes the required documents and forms to the Department of Graduate Studies in the college, which transfers the application and documents to the concerned scientific department for opinion and appointment of the supervision committee, provided that one of the committee members acts as the student’s academic advisor.

3- The student must submit a certificate of passing the English or French language from one of the university’s language centers or from the corresponding universities or from one of the approved language centers as decided by the College Council and the University Council.

4- The College Council may, upon the proposal of the relevant department council, accept the registration of a student who holds a diploma in a branch of specialization, after successfully passing a number of supplementary courses whose teaching hours are not less than (12) credit hours at the postgraduate level, which the department deems necessary. To study in a maximum of eight subjects, provided that his cumulative average is not less than C+. In this case, the student is allowed to register the thesis hours after the approval of the main scientific supervisor if the student wants to register before completing all supplementary courses.

5- The department council forms a committee to supervise the master’s thesis, and the main scientific supervisor acts as the academic advisor.

Methods for awarding a master’s degree:

 To obtain a master’s degree in law, it is required that the student conduct a research on a topic approved by the college council based on the proposal of the competent department council. Or another body that fulfills the requirements for research and is recognized, or another body that fulfills some requirements related to the research. The student submits the results of his research in a letter that is accepted by the judging committee after discussing it. 2- Obtaining two diplomas, one of them public or private, is considered equivalent to a master’s degree in law.  3- The college may organize a study to grant a master’s degree in accordance with the regulations in force in the corresponding law faculties in Egyptian and foreign universities that are internationally recognized. 


 

Study period for master’s degree

The period required for obtaining this degree may not be less than one year (before the formation of the judging committee), and it may be extended up to four years. Report of supervisors and approval of the department and college councils.

Conditions for enrollment in postgraduate diplomas

 

 1- In order to enroll the student in obtaining any of the postgraduate diplomas, he must have a BA in Law from a university in the Federal Republic of Somalia or an equivalent degree from another scientific institute recognized by the Supreme Council of Universities. In this case, admission shall be in the order of the total scores in the bachelor’s degree or the equivalent academic degree.

2- The college council may authorize holders of another university degree to enroll in one of the specialized professional diplomas or in one of the college’s specialized institutes of higher studies. In this case, the College Council may require the student to successfully pass a number of supplementary courses whose teaching hours are not less than 6 credit hours for professional diplomas and 12 credit hours for institutes of higher studies, provided that the cumulative average of these courses is not less than C+ and no These courses are counted as part of the program hours.

3- The number of students for each diploma is determined according to what is approved by the College Council

International students:-

The required paperwork :-

1- A Bachelor’s degree in Law certified and amended by the Supreme Council of Universities.

2- A certified birth certificate.

3- The approval of the embassy, ​​including the employer and the funding.

4- 4 photographs.

5- A copy of the full passport – even the blank papers.

  What is the nature of the study?

You must have obtained a law degree, so you can obtain a master’s degree either by obtaining two diplomas or by obtaining one diploma and then writing and discussing a thesis.

The academic system of the college is based on the credit hour system.

A student enrolled in a postgraduate diploma studies courses of at least 30 credit hours based on the proposal of the competent scientific department council and the approval of the College Council, including 12 credit hours of the compulsory courses specified for each diploma, 6 credit hours for the research hall, and 6 At least credit hours from the elective courses chosen by the student.

The student enrolled in one of the specialization diplomas in the postgraduate institutes of the college studies courses of at least 60 credit hours based on the proposal of the competent scientific department council and the approval of the college council, including 24 hours of compulsory courses specified for each diploma and 12 credit hours for the research hall. And at least 12 credit hours from the elective courses chosen by the student.

As for the beginning of the study, there are two semesters for each diploma, and you can apply for any diploma in  the fall semester  , which starts from the fourth week of September until the end of the fourth week of December, or in  the spring semester  , which starts from the first Saturday of March until the end of First week of June

 .

1- Diploma in private law.

2- Diploma in civil law.

3- Diploma in public law.

4- Diploma in Economic and Financial Sciences.

5- Diploma in Islamic jurisprudence.

6- Diploma in Sharia Politics.

7- Diploma in Maritime Law.

8- Diploma in international law.

9 – diploma in criminal sciences.

10 – Diploma in Administrative Sciences.

11 – diploma in international trade.

12 – Diploma of pleadings.

13 – Diploma in intellectual property.

14 – Diploma of arbitration.

15 – Diploma in the Institute of Financial and Tax Studies “two years”.

3- The      duration of the study?

To obtain any of these diplomas, one university year (two semesters) except for the last diploma, which is

                for two years.
