Introduction to the college:

The College of Information Technology was established, in response to the urgent need of society for qualified graduates in various computer disciplines. The college has a number of academic departments , namely: computer science, software engineering, computer information systems, Internet technology, and artificial intelligence, and Teaching and learning technology, Operations Research and Decision Support Department, and a selection of faculty members of various academic ranks works in the college. (60%). A university degree is also granted at the master’s level in the computer science and information systems and software engineering programs. The college has nine computer laboratories equipped with the latest equipment and modern scientific techniques for information technology students, and one of these laboratories is equipped for research and postgraduate studies with advanced portable computers, and the college is developing its plans At a pace that is in line with scientific developments and the rapid scientific and technological development in the field of computing, there are permanent committees charged with developing plans to advance their programs and plans.

College departments and programs:

 

The college currently consists of seven academic departments, which are:

  • Department of Computer Science: It aims to provide the student with the knowledge and skills necessary for him to work in the field of programming, the use of computer networks, and the development of computer systems 
  • · Software Engineering Department: The department of training and rehabilitation requested by the proper foundations and methodologies for the development of software systems , including the use of the right tools and appropriate to ensure the quality and reliability of the system in order to avoid the occurrence of errors in the software may cause a lot of losses. The specialists have become accustomed to calling this field of knowledge software engineering, and the specialist in this field to be called the software engineer.
  • Department of Computer Information Systems: The Computer Information Systems Program graduates trained, qualified and knowledgeable students in everything related to the development and maintenance of information systems. The following: Information systems analysis and design, information storage and retrieval systems, management information systems, economics of information systems, information center management, e-commerce, Internet information systems, also includes software quality assurance, object-oriented databases, methodologies for developing information systems, knowledge discovery in database systems
  • Department of Internet Technology: The current development in the use of the Internet has created new markets and is accompanied by an increase in demand for graduates with skills related to this technology, the Internet technology program “Multimedia Technology and Web Development”, the department seeks to provide students with the necessary knowledge and practical skills required to develop Internet-related applications Efficiency and effectiveness, and it also seeks to address the lack of necessary practical skills required by labor markets in the field of information technology and the Internet by providing students with the capabilities that qualify them for this purpose, mobile computing and smart device applications, and includes its materials as follows:Various types of telephone networks, Internet technology, communication technology, security and confidentiality of information and networks, speech recognition and generation, multimedia, as well as computer vision, virtual reality, smart and quantitative computers, microprocessing and its applications, dynamic systems and humans, e-learning and digital libraries, engineering Information, e-business.
  • Teaching and Learning Technology: The program aims to provide teachers and specialists in educational technology, human resource development and training in this field. The department’s program also contributes to the training of current IT teachers and supervisors in the learning resource centers. In order for teachers to acquire the skills of teaching these subjects, they study various educational courses (such as curricula, teaching methods, educational psychology, foundations of education and educational technology) and then practical application within the laboratories and laboratories of these subjects.

Developing the academic staff: This is through the blessed effort made by the Deanship of the College in urging the brothers of the faculty members to develop themselves and raise their academic level by encouraging the professors to carry out academically distinguished research and obtain higher degrees, as well as encouraging the brothers who hold a master’s degree to obtain a doctorate degree.

Developing the administrative and technical staff: through the college’s request to appoint laboratory supervisors with a high level of teaching to advance in the field of laboratory management and holding training courses for technicians in the college in the fields of safety and security as well as in the field of using modern technology in their work in order to save time and effort, and holding advanced training courses for the brothers college administrators.

Educational technology is an integrated and dynamic networked system based on theory and application in the design, use, development and evaluation of multimedia.
